With just four days remaining in the regular season, I took at look at the title scenarios for each league in Section 1. Most have already been decided, but a few will come down to the wire.
Here’s the breakdown…
LEAGUE I-A – Arlington, Carmel, John Jay-EF, Ketcham, Lourdes, Mahopac
What’s the scenario? Arlington has locked this one up. The Admirals went 9-1 in league play, with their only loss coming against Carmel. They swept second-place JJEF.
LEAGUE I-B – Beacon, Hen Hud, Lakeland, Ossining, Panas, Peekskill
What’s the scenario? Hen Hud and Lakeland are co-champs after each went 8-1-1 in league play, although it’s worth noting that Hen Hud went 1-0-1 vs. Lakeland.
LEAGUE I-C – Arlington B, Haldane, North Salem, Pawling, Putnam Valley
What’s the scenario? Arlington B and North Salem are each 6-1 with one game to play. The good news is, they’ll be playing each other, so the title will be decided at North Salem on Friday. Gotta love it when it comes down to a winner-takes-all scenario.
LEAGUE I-D – Brewster, Fox Lane, Greeley, John Jay, Somers, Yorktown
What’s the scenario? Greeley is currently sitting in first place at 7-2-1, but Somers will have the opportunity to tie the Quakers and become co-champs. The Tuskers are 6-2-1 with one to play vs. John Jay.
LEAGUE II-A – Mamaroneck, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Scarsdale, White Plains
What’s the scenario? Mamaroneck is 4-2-1 with one to play against Mount Vernon. The Tigers will clinch with a win, but if they lose, New Rochelle and Scarsdale will be co-champions after both finished 5-3 in league play.
LEAGUE II-B – Clarkstown North, Clarkstown South, North Rockland, Ramapo, Suffern
What’s the scenario? In a league that has seen up-and-down results all year, Suffern has emerged as the champ with a 4-1-2 record. The Mounties have one more to play against Clarkstown North, which is the only team in the league to beat them so far.
LEAGUE II-C – Albertus Magnus, Nanuet, Nyack, Pearl River, Spring Valley, Tappan Zee
What’s the scenario? Pearl River has locked up the title with an 8-0-1 record in the league. The Pirates have one more to play against second place TZ, but the championship has already been decided.
LEAGUE II-D – Byram Hills, Eastchester, Harrison, Pelham, Port Chester, Rye
What’s the scenario? PC has won the league with a 9-1 record. The Rams only loss came against Pelham, which finished with three league losses.
LEAGUE II-E – Gorton, Lincoln, Riverside, Roosevelt, Saunders, Yonkers
What’s the scenario? Saunders has clinched the title with an 8-1 mark in the league. The Blue Devils have one more to play against second-place Yonkers, which is 5-2-1 in the league.
LEAGUE III-A – Briarcliff, Croton-Harmon, Pleasantville, Valhalla, Westlake
What’s the scenario? Valhalla is 5-1-1 in the league and will clinch a title with a win over Westlake on Friday. If the Vikings lose, it will open the door for Briarcliff, which is 5-2 with one to play against Croton-Harmon.
LEAGUE III-B – Ardsley, Bronxville, Edgemont, Keio, Sleepy Hollow
What’s the scenario? Edgemont has locked up the title with a 7-1 league record. Bronxville finished second at 6-1-1.
LEAGUE III-C – Blind Brook, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings, Irvington, Rye Neck
What’s the scenario? Irvington is 7-0 with one to play against Rye Neck, but the unbeaten Bulldogs have already clinched a title.
LEAGUE III-D – Hamilton, Solomon Schechter, Tuckahoe, Woodlands, YMA
What’s the scenario? It’s been all Schechter, all year. The Lions are 7-0 with one to play against Tuckahoe and the title already theirs.
